eBay 4-pin Hirose to 9-pin D-sub
I've bought cables for Leica and Geodimeter from Chinese cable assemblers and have been favorably impressed with the quality and pricing. Delivery takes awhile -- the term "slow boat from China" pertains -- but if you're not in a big rush it's a good way to go.
Haven't bought custom cables for a few years now, but we used to get them from here:

I couldn't get the website to come up, so they might not be in business any longer, but I used a business called Buck and Masters www.buckandmasters.com to get my cables from back when we were going thru hands, and therefore, breaking lots of cables. The prices were pretty good compared to dealers, and they had a good selection. I post it here in case it was just my computer having trouble with their site.

I started a conversation with you. I have some of the cables.
I've used Western States Cable ( http://www.wscable.com/ ). Might give them a call.
NEI in Lafayette LA can get or make any cable for a 5600. www.neigps.com
If you call them ask for Lane LeBlanc.

That's where I got mine. I also needed a 3-way hirose connector from Martin supply. HUGE $$$ for that connector (I think it cost me $150).
DON'T GET THE ALVIN CABLE. Mine was incompatible and it end up costing me BIG TIME for my local Keystone supplier to figure that one out for me. Spend the $75 and get the Trimble.
All in all, it works, but is very bulky. I wish there was a more streamlined solution. The cables don't even fit into the Trimble transport case.
