Larry Phipps, PLS of Jefferson North Carolina, Jeff Lucas, PLS and Attorney at Law of Birmingham, Alabama, and John B Stahl, PLS, CFedS, of Salt Lake City, Utah, are proud to announce that they have entered into a strategic partnership named PLSSeminars, LLC. This strategic partnership will involve their coordinated efforts to raise the bar for continuing education for Professional Land Surveyors.

Over the years Jeff, John and Larry have gained national reputations for being among the very best at seminar presentations. This new partnership will make unprecedented expertise and passion available to anyone who attends one of their events.

PLSSeminars has already planned its first live destination event. Destination: New Orleans! On August 29 and 30, 2011, the Omni Royal Orleans Hotel in New Orleans, Louisiana, will host a two-day gathering of professional land surveyors. At this event, Lucas, Stahl and Phipps will present two days of classes that promise to be both interesting and informative. On Monday attendees can choose between two different presentations. J B Stahl will present an empowering series of classes unlocking the surveyor’s role in land disputes. In a separate series, Larry Phipps will address the new 2011 ALTA/ACSM standards from top to bottom, and everything in between. Tuesday’s presentations will include a morning session on Ethics followed by a full mock trial, led by renown Jeff Lucas, where the attendees will participate as attorneys, experts, witnesses and jurors, in a “guaranteed to excite and entertain” event. In addition to these traditional seminars, there will be a reception Monday evening with an “Open Mic” for the attendees to pose questions to PLSSeminar’s panel of experts. That discussion / debate should prove to be a highlight of the destination.

Those interested in attending the event may register at www.plsseminars.com. The cost is $295 per person ($250 for additional registrations from the same company). Fee includes admission to the event, continental breakfast Monday and Tuesday, a cash bar and reception Monday evening and snacks at session breaks. Those wishing to stay at the Omni Royal Orleans Hotel (in the heart of the French Quarter) may make their reservations by calling 800-578-0500. PLSSeminars has arranged for a block of rooms for attendees at a substantial savings. Please mention PLSSeminars when making your reservation.

John

Read Larry's Bio, the term "BS Degrees" just does not read well.

It also says he has "prospective". Should be "perspective". Just trying to help.

It was a test to see who was paying attention.;-)

You win. Come to Nawlins and I'll buy you a drink for being the first.

Thanks.

If I could go back I would probably choose a degree in Forestry although I probably make more than I would be making if I was working as a Forester. I think the Forest products business is finally picking up due to overseas demand but it is more managed than ever due to the lack of old growth trees. Most Forest land has to be managed because it isn't in its natural state and there is the environmental management too which is handled at least partly by Professional Foresters.

Dave

My dad's degree was in Forestry and he ended up surveying, so go figure.

You're right about that, Sicilian! (the venue part, anyway) It's right in the middle of the French Quarter with great access to everywhere you'd want to be. We're planning on arriving early on Saturday so we have both Saturday and Sunday to play! That gives us Monday and Tuesday to get down to the business at hand (with the break on Monday evening for the Open-Mic Night reception, of course). It's all about the fun of getting together, then we'll talk shop.

And, no. There's no attempt to "corner the market." In fact, were doing our best to play off-season from the state conferences so as not to compete. The states need their revenue and their regular attendance. We don't want to interfere with that (in fact we want to encourage it). We have a number of ideas for presentation of topics that we're going to implement. It's not designed to be your typical "talking head" kind of seminar made for nodding off.

"Let the good times roll!"
Destination: New Orleans!

I Can Tell You This.......

If I didn't already have three big vacations planned this year, I would seriously think about attending. My wife and I absolutely loved New Orleans a few years back, and I would love an excuse to go back.;-)

Jared, You don't have to think of it as a "big vacation." Tell your wife that it's just a "weekend getaway." (with tax deductions included!) ;o)
