Just curious if anyone has any input on courses through Red Vector, McKissock, or pdhcenter.com? More specifically Texas approved 4 hr courses. Is there usually a test involved and are there any classes that are a must take?

I like pdhcenter.com myself. The course material is well written and the test is fairly straight forward. It's a good, inexpensive way to get CEU's in my opinion. Naturally, if you are already familiar with the material, you can take the course just to be sure that you still know it. That, in my opinion, is a legitimate purpose of continuing education.

Probably a little off your question.

I take a 3 semester hour online (sorta) course from Great Basin College every 2 years. It costs about $600 dollars. It has homework, tests and final exam. This covers my needs both for PLS and PE in Utah. If I keep at it long enough I'd actually be eligible for a BS degree in land surveying. Currently taking a course on Geodesy and GPS Surveying.

Now if someone would hire a new BS degree that has already been licensed for 20 years and is about 70 years old (a decade from now), that would be a new experience because for all but about 8 years of my life I've been self employed. Maybe I'll put myself on a salary (Nah, not going down that tax nightmare).

Anyway to pass these courses you actually need to learn something and do a lot of work and its not as fun as going to surveyor conferences and hobnobbing with your buddies.

I have used PDHonline.org for years. They send me 1/2 off codes and I can do a 6 credit class in less than an hour.

Have to agree that pdhonline is a good source for online CEU's.

The china man told me to take anybody's course, then send him the name of the course
and my credit card number. I get 50% off instead of you dummies who got 20% off.
One of my BOR said they were investigating PDHonline and auditing everybody who
take their courses. I guess that is why the TN BOR only give 1/4 of the hours for
PDHonline courses. No PDHonline for me.
