2009 Manual of Survey Instructions. With a title like that how could you not need it??ÿ Downloadable. Then there is the little Restorations pamphlet from the '70s.?ÿ
?ÿ?ÿ
I've found the Restorations guide/index to my manual to be very helpful.?ÿ Updated for 2009 (in addition to 1973).?ÿ https://www.amazon.com/Restoration-Obliterated-Corners-Subdivision-Sections/dp/1456539361/
On a separate topic, and maybe this should be a different thread, collecting all the useful resources (references to study materials, calculator programs, books, advice, etc) into one or two pages on this site might be really useful.?ÿ This way someone getting started could find the CalTrans, manuals, books, and other things in one spot.?ÿ It took me a good amount of time to piece together a good deal of the information and some of it is rather obscure and difficult to find.?ÿ
This is for the FS test. There will be several additional recommendations when you get to the PS.
Surveying Solved Problems for the FS and PS Exams. Cheap right now at $60.?ÿ This is the book that used to be 1001 Surveying Solved Problems. It has way more problems, with solutions, than the NCEES sample exams.?ÿ?ÿ
The CALTRANS stuff is dry, very dry. But still valid. A gift to the profession. You need to push through those. There is a printed study guide that goes along with that which should not be ignored. LSAW also has some recorded material.?ÿ?ÿ
Boundary Control & Legal Principles, but an early edition (I recommend the 2nd, the first is good but too rare & expensive). The most recent editions have too much minutae that will not be on the test. This can be had for under $10 including shipping.
Evidence and Procedures for Boundary Location. Again,?ÿan early edition -for the same reason.
Elementary Surveying, a recent edition but not necessarily the very latest. Or some other comprehensive general text of recent origin as long as it includes chapters on GNSS, coordinate systems, and grid projections.?ÿ
2009 Manual of Survey Instructions. With a title like that how could you not need it??ÿ Downloadable. Then there is the little Restorations pamphlet from the '70s.?ÿ
ACSM Definitions of Surveying & Associated Terms and?ÿ Black's Law Dictionary would both be good additions to the library.

^^
I just passed my FS this spring in my final year of a Bachelors in Surveying Engineering Technology. Most of my studying time for calculations was based on taking several practice tests and then finding similar questions to problems I struggled with in the Solved Problems book that Mark references above. I spent a lot of time reviewing construction surveying problems as nearly all my practical experience has been in residential boundary surveying.?ÿ
I also went through the NCEES practice test and booklet that shows the percentage breakdown of each topic they cover in the test and would try to make sure I wasn't going to get any questions that would surprise me to much.
If your mainly looking for practice problems I think the Solved Problems book, a NCEES Practice Exam booklet, Elementary Surveying textbook, and maybe a supplemental resource for the PLSS system should be all the material you would need to study for the FS.
