Just finished a drainage seminar hosted by Larry Phipps and the Land Surveyors Workshop. The seminar I attended was taught by Jack Keen. Jack did a great job explaining things. I felt old though (and I'm not) Jack and I passed the Virginia LS the same sitting. We sorta joked a bit about how things have changed.
One of the fella's asked me why I was there...was it to get ready for the next test. I said no. Just bored and wanted some PDH's. Real reason was to meet Larry in person. As with phone calls I've had with him and chatting on FB, Larry is a genuine guy...finally we meet face to face.
Jack took and PITA formulae (TR-55) and stepped all thru it like it was nothing. his common sense approach made me a bit irritated that I didn't have that 20 years ago. Sure would have made the test a bit more understandable. Rational and Anderson were a nice reminder.
Hats off to both of them. Sure was good to be about other surveyors and talk the lingo. The usual story tellin went on afterwards. It was good to meet others and hear how they are doing.
A day well spent!!!:good:
I've never met Larry, but have had the opportunity to speak to him on the phone a couple of times over the last year or so. He's definitely on my bucket list of surveyors to meet in person! It just so happens that Mr. Mapitowski is also on that list.
