Any recommendations to study for the Ca State Specific?
If Tony Cuomo (Pacific Land Seminars) is still doing seminars, California Land Surveyor's Act, California Subdivision Map Act, California Public Resources Code, CLSA study guide... as well as the usual: BLM Manual, Brown, Wattles, etc.

Talked to Tony a year ago or so and he was no longer operating Pacific Land Seminars.
The References Noted are a great start.
California Land Surveyor's Act
California Subdivision Map Act
California Public Resources Code
CLSA study guide
BLM Manual
Get a hold of Ric Moore. He is active on this site and a key to the exam process. Good man in all regards.
Good luck on the toughest exam you will ever take.
Ralph
You heading west?
That's too bad. Tony is a great guy. I can fully attribute passing the exam on my first attempt to Pacific Land Seminars.

Only The State Specific?
I do believe that you will also be required to take the PLSS portion of the Second Half of the NCEEs test.
Good luck.

Hi Ralph,
Several of the suggestions you received are valid. I would suggest that you review this link: http://www.bpelsg.ca.gov/applicants/refs.shtml for the Land Surveyor reference materials and what to expect. The important part, besides the reference list, is the Test Plan which lists what you can expect to see on the exam.
Feel free to contact either Ray Mathe, Staff Land Surveyor at [email protected] or me [email protected] if you have any questions.
Assuming you are already licensed in NY and have previously passed the NCEES Principles of Surveying exam (PS), the California state exam is 4 hours administered on computer at a Prometric Computer Testing Center. Once you are notified to schedule for the exam, you should be able to choose a center close to you.

Thank You Ric,
Unfortunately I live in NYC so the closest center is still 2000 miles away 🙂
I thought there was an option for a take home exam?

Thanks everyone for the suggestions.

I found the Caltrans review course very helpful:

Thank You Dave,
It was useful for the Lsit and PP. I already have a license. I'm more interested in Ca state specific material.
Cheers

That is a supplemental exam that must be answered and provided with your application package to BPELSG.

Road Trip

Interesting. Very, very interesting.
According to the Prometric web site, there are about 20 centers located in and around the NYC area. I know we've had quite a few candidates sit for our state exams in that area.
Try this link and search by your zip code or city name and choose the California Professional Land Surveyor examination:

Thank You Rick!
Ralph, although it is outdated as far as the current exam format, the CLSA Exam Guide is still a great resource.

If you want a printed copy, contact Crissy at the CLSA Central Office.

SUBDIVISION MAP ACT
PROFESSIONAL LAND SURVEYORS ACT
