The Johns Hopkins alumni magazine had an interesting article in the subject. It is linked here:
http://magazine.jhu.edu/2009/08/the-autodidact-course-catalog/

With the article as a guide, perhaps the readers of this forum might suggest what texts they would suggest for someone learning surveying and it's various discipline?

A good introduction to geodesy without a lot of higher math is Geodesy for Geomatics and GIS Professionals by Elithorp and Findorff. At a more advanced level, Geodesy by Torge. A great intro to linear algebra, geodesy and GPS is the text by that name written by Strang and Borre.

I also recommend reviewing the materials at The Ohio State University site, the NGS site, Will Featherstone' personal page at Curtin University and many more academic sites.

Anyone have other ideas?

Cheers,

DMM
