All Surveyors Everywhere are always Liars.
So what's the difference between them?
Just the size of their lies.
Good Surveyors tell SMALL ones.
Bad Surveyors tell BIG ones!
Unfortunately, towns are built on surveys. Some are the big ones, some are the small ones!
This makes surveying into a continuous rodeo.
Still want to be a surveyor?

Moo-Moo buckaroo;-) Cowboy Up:bye:
I wish I would of read your philosophy 30 years ago Master Po! I followed the "we are professionals philosophy" and now I wonder! signed Grasshopper
Wow Natester, I want what you're smoking.... 40 yrs ago.. 😉
Actually I think I had some back then when I decided to be a surveyor. Never really looked back, perhaps because I couldn't remember where I was (joke).
In terms of philosophy, what used to be a really fun job and career that I loved doing and looked forward to the next project (before EDM's, data collectors, and mostly GPS) - has kind of become mundane. I think the hypocrisy, fees, and over/under regulations, in conjunction with super speed technology advancements, have taken the fun out of what once was something I used to love. Now it's just a job, and somewhat unsettling at times. But I'm getting old..... time to retire
It's a profession of opinions. And your opinion will always stink to others. Their opinion is always 0.04' off of mine. Your right, I'm wrong - I'm right, your wrong.
Frustrating to say the least.

That was hilarius! It needs finished. Add more captioning, and get them screaming about how RIGHT each is. Yes, that was fitting!

Made my day! That is great!B-)
No, I do not want to be a surveyor.
Does that make me a good one or a bad one?:-S
So, that means you regret not stopping at party chief?
Can't resist this enticing come back. We all carry cones & signs. Some say "Survey Party Ahead".
We always got a chuckle from that one, as we quit our party and put our newspaper and donuts down and went to work...;-)
Hey chief3, if we can't laugh at ourselves then who in the heck can we laugh at. Never stop laughing... it's good for the soul.:-D
PartyChief..
Maybe just smarter than me....
Nate, surveyors often do not know that they are bad surveyors at the time, as it takes a successive surveyor to make that determination.
Assuming a successive surveyor(s)finds the mistake{s}
Then does a single mistake make a surveyor a bad surveyor?
Is a surveyor who makes many small mistakes a bad surveyor?
Or is a surveyor only a bad surveyor if he makes a big mistake?

Bad Surveyor:
Only about 10% of the time do the markers on the ground, match his plat, within ANY degree of certainty. Recently, I found a survey, by this surveyor, that was wrong by a whole 10 acres. Here is a link to Mr.Whitfields's Survey Unfortunately, This was a COMMON thing for Mr. Whitfield.
IF he sets monuments, often they are WOOD STAKES. If the landowners don't set their own mons, then, after the sticks rot... it is real hard to figure out where they were set. See above comment.
At closing sections, on Range lines, or Township lines, well, you are LIKELY to find that he got it wrong.
When 20% of the surveyors, do 90% of the work, and the public never gets it. There is a problem.
Public likes a bargain.
Bargains, sometimes come at the loss of integrity, and now we have a problem.
Man, that was ugly.:poop:
