Looked over to see what new posts had appeared recently and see YIDDISH as a subject. Scan through the top 25 threads. Nothing about YIDDISH there. Check the next 25. Nope. Another 25. Nope. Give up and actually click on YIDDISH.

That thread started two weeks ago and you guys are still beating it to death!!!!!!!

Starts off wondering about the Republicn Party and turns into a name-calling debate over who knows the most about Yiddish followed by something to do with a purple dinosaur named Barney. You might as well be debating the proper method of roasting marshmallows or opening a tin can without a can opener. Sheesh!

LOL! Do the marshmallows for roasting have to be kosher? Oh, and "tin" cans aren't really made out of tin...

(Heh, I know how to have fun with this stuff...)

(the herbivore):-)

You are correct about that debate. There doesn't seem to be any politics or religion being discussed any more. It's just the Dave and and Tim show, which is really O.K., but they should just go have a drink and talk about sports or women or something useful.

Tin Cans

Gunter,

While “Tin Cans” are NOT made of pure tin, the fact is, they never were. Tinplate Steel cans have been around for nearly 200 years, and still ARE. While aluminum cans, and lacquered steel cans are more common, tinplate steel cans are STILL used TODAY for many products. As with such things as “tin roof,” “tin ceiling tiles,” and “Tin building,” we are really talking about tin plated steel. And I suppose “tinman” probably falls in there somewhere too...

Now “Tinfoil” is another story!

🙂
