My question is "How can I backup or download my email to my computer for future use"? I have email going back to 2004 and it has saved me many times over the years by being able to download a drawing that I had emailed to someone that I had lost due to a computer crash.

TIA
Ed

I went thru a couple of life and work processes where I had to save and document emails and correspondence with others.
It is fairly easy to save your emails into document form on your computer.
Personally, I have not deleted any email other than junk and advertising since creating my Yahoo and other accounts.
Look on your Yahoo mail page and when you open an email, there on the command bar above your email is an ARCHIVE button that will save your email within Yahoo.
To the right of that is the ...more v option that will allow you to print (hardcopy or pdf if you have a pdf writer) of your emails.
I have had to retrieve email to remind others of the little details that were overlooked before and I make it a part of collecting information to print all correspondence from clients to be place in the job folder.

I assume you are running Windows.
What email program are you using?

If you are running Thunderbird perhaps I can help.
I backup my entire .thunderbird folder ... it runs about 3.5 GB at this point.
Individual emails can be saved as files if you wish, but I usually don't bother.

EDIT !!!! sorry, I did not read your subject line... I can not help with Yahoo mail.

Are they discontinuing email service or are we just worried about the impending change?

Thanks,

You *can* use Thunderbird or other email clients to download the Yahoo mail. Try searching something "how can I download emails from Yahoo" and you'll get articles with several options.

That would be wise. I hate the "cloud"...

Thanks all.

Yes I have been using Yahoo since 2004 and was afraid that Verizon would make you signup again and start from scratch with them. I have been saved many time by being able to download old drawings that I had sent to either myself or clients.
