I'm sure that some of you folks that are from the northern climes will get a kick out of this.?ÿ Georgia has closed "nonessential" State offices and local school districts have canceled schools for tomorrow (1/29/19) because they are predicting from 1 to 3 inches of snow in the area.?ÿ Of course the temperatures are going to fall into the upper teens Tuesday night also.?ÿ While I was typing this my Dentist's office called to reschedule my appointment that was scheduled for tomorrow.
They are more worried about the ice that will form on the road, we have been caught flatfooted in the past when snowfall exceeded the expectations.?ÿ We have little snow removal equipment because it is usually only needed about every 4 or 5 years.

I would love to see snow about butt-hole deep here in Georgia.
I remember a few years ago when there was snow and ice in Atlanta.?ÿ It seems like it happened when everyone was heading home and they had a mess, hundreds of cars stuck on the roads.?ÿ I suppose they don't want a repeat of that.?ÿ They are calling for lows around -20 around here a couple of nights this week. ?ÿ
Y'all in Georgia be careful on that ice.?ÿ I have lived in ice and snow country all of my 63 years and still managed
to fall on snow covered ice two weeks ago that produced a hip fracture.
I grew up in Kentucky and moved to St. Louis in 2002. It amazes me how fast they can clear roads here. IDOT is ten times better than MoDOT with snow removal, but an overnight 10-12" snow is nothing. Back in the Bluegrass State 3 inches was state of emergency. At least down in Georgia they already closed everything. That way you can get all the beverages you need, ribs for the smoker and take it easy tomorrow.
About to date myself... but in 1993 I was still in High School. Big snow was predicted so all my buddy crashed at my house. We woke up to 26 inches of snow. No school for a week solid. We were jumping off the deck into piles of snow. I woke up that morning to my friend knocking on the bedroom window. When I opened the blinds he was mooning me with snow up to mid thigh.

Michigan DOT snowbelt workers can really get the job done in a hurry.
