So, uh...how do I find my product key on a laptop that came with Windows pre-installed but I can't find any of my paperwork that I got when I bought it? Am I S.O.L.?

mine (HP Elitebook 820 G1) is under the battery. Win 7 Pro "business class" was the target market
Try this (win7): Open an Explorer window. Right-click "Computer" and select Properties. Or go through Control Panel > System and Security > System. You should get a "View basic information about your computer."
On the bottom of the page, there should be a Windows activation section with a product ID.
Thanks for the input - much appreciated. However, my computer came loaded with Win8, and I upgraded to 8.1 and later installed Win10. Hope grabbing the product key will be as simple as 7.
