Don't get to see to much of it working for MA DOT, but when I do it's usually interesting.

I once found a large dog skeleton with a collar and leash lying in the bones in some plum brush. The leash had become tangled in the brush. He had been there a long time. No tags.

NOT so Wildlife at work

I once came across a poor dog in the back yard of an abandoned house. He'd been tied up on the limb of tree by his right hind leg so that his front paws dangled about 4 inches above the ground. Hadn't even started swelling up yet. Humans are the harshest, cruelest and stupidest animals on the face of the earth. Bar none.

NOT so Wildlife at work

Saw a cow skull hanging on one of those nifty flexible fiberglas thingies that are used to mark the end of culverts on county roads. That's much better than the common sight of spoonbill heads and large catfish heads stuck on the tops of fence posts.

Yep, had the balls to click it off, he was 10 feet and coming at me. The head looks small, but it is probably 26" in diameter, the bear is just big...

Got the pic, and started screaming at it like a bad dog, and kicked a little gravel towards him.... It stopped, stood, and then walked off to the left.

Lots of bears around here, west side of Cook Inlet... I was actually fishing not working. Here is one of my other favorite shots from that trip..

Not really a big deal Wendell, it is more patience than bravery.... You get use to the behaviors... They cannot see worth a darn, only smell real good.... I was not a threat, it just came in to warn me that it was fishing, and to check me out... I had no shooter, if it took one more step than it did, I would have gone into the fetal position and taken some lumps. Had to do that only a time or two over my life.
