Early in my career I was squatting down driving an 18" wood stake on a hot summer day with a 3 lb. Estwing. I finally missed a stake and the hammer's momentum carried it downward as my arm had already begun its upward swing.?ÿ Sweaty hands and the laws of physics caused that hammer to slip out of my hand and rotate backwards like a boomerang into the boys.?ÿ I'm sure the contractor, excavator, and crew had a laugh at my expense but I couldn't hear them over the screams of several generations of my unborn offspring.?ÿ From that day till now I hammer with what I call side arm. It's not as efficient as a normal swing, but a missed swing doesn't blow a knee cap or my nads.?ÿ

Oh, hell!?ÿ What a wuss?! I had a 450 lb bull place his right rear hoof on the front/inner side of my left thigh at rather high velocity this morning.?ÿ Ouch WAS NOT the first word to come out of my mouth.?ÿ Left a scrape that is a pretty red color topping the bluish/purpleish bulge where the swelling has taken place.?ÿ Another foot higher and I would have been singing in the soprano section.

The ingrate did not understand that I was attempting to let him leave the pen where we had captured a few cows with baby calves to be moved to a different pasture but intended to leave him where he was.?ÿ The next time he comes in that pen will be his last unless he can clear the five-foot high panels.?ÿ He will be sold to someone who will probably feast on mountain oysters.

Baloo the bear would've had some choice words for that experience!
