Wendell..Got a question for ya (General Non-Surveying)

I really like the way we can view the threads. I use Table View and alternate between Fold Threads and Expand Threads It seems to me that all we are missing is the Split Screen format..is there any chance of that becoming an option in the near future??
I brought this TTT because Wendell most likely did not see it..
I was also wondering if you have thought about a statistics area for the board like
the 'old' one had.
I think that Beerleg has become RPLS and that all we will be missing is access to the volumes of knowledge that have been posted there. If Khristi does follow through with the 'new' board and makes available all the previous posts from the old site then maybe the 'new' board can be termed the RPLS Archives.
It may be possible, yes. I'm not exactly sure what it would take to set that up at the moment, but I plan to look into it ASAP.
Did you know you can view what's written in a post by clicking on the cartoonish icon at the of each post title from the main page?
Yeah, is that cool or what?
Ummm Wendell..Just saw this on the dying RPLS
[i]...If Kristi is smart, and I believe she is, she will be on the phone to Wendell ASAP to offer to enter into an arrangement to link Beerleg and rpls.com in some kind of symbiotic relationship which would allow Beerleg's traffic to count on on rpls.com for advertising purposes....in exchange for a POB picking up Beerleg's expenses and perhaps putting Wendell on as part-time staff.
Interesting..
Im sure Wendell would handle it in such a way that would keep Beerleg (RPLS) intact...
One thing I do like about this format is that it's sort of a hybrid between traditional and newer forum styles, leaning more toward the traditional. For example: even though overall it is a tree-based thread style, you can opt to have the threads with the newest posts show up on top. That is a mix of the old tree-style forums where the threads just naturally scroll down the page and eventually bury themselves, with the newer forums where the latest topics are always at the top.
Couple these features with the latest posts block in the right column, and I think we have a pretty solid layout here.
That said, I do think the split screen view would be a nice option to have. That would allow the site to accommodate nearly any taste. Stay tuned.

Beerleg's expenses will be paid by us, what do they have to offer? Corporate Oversight?

Bad idea. Wendall has a "not for profit" site aimed at the interests of Land Surveyors and I expect it to continue to develop well as long as that intent remains in play. Kristi represents the money that publishers are receiving from equipment manufactures and sales. The two interests are not compatible and those with the biggest pockets will at every turn attempt to gain total control for profit if allowed a foot in the door. I believe Wendall has seen the danger in establishing a relationship with those who's only interest is making a buck and that buck is not coming directly from Surveyors. The Surveyors are providing the product that others have been exploiting and now want to increase the marketability of their site for even larger profit. My support lies with Wendall.

That was my point, you put it far more eloquently than I did.

I honestly do not see the point in pairing up with another corporation. I could see maybe setting up some sort of official, independent organization to manage the place.
I can see the possibility of attracting equipment manufacturers, software developers, etc. to advertise their wares here as a means to support us. But beyond that, I don't think having a "boss" with other motives is the best idea.
A thread that Roadhand posted yesterday about mailing lists being sold with our information did not set well with me. I would never do that to anyone here nor would I want to align us with anyone willing to do that.
