The main reason I moved and took this job to work on my quest for a license is leaving. Even turned down an opportunity with the BLM( I know..stupid). ?ÿ School can be 100% online, pay isn't very good, and with an unknown time to replace the PLS, and no idea what the personality and mentoring ability are, I'm easing my finger into the ring of the purple M18 and preparing to pop smoke and retreat.

?ÿ Leadership changes, vacuums can exist, and downward spirals follow too sometimes.?ÿ

Anyone need a dedicated CST2 O/F college graduate that wants to get a license and embraces GIS and surveying equally(well surveying slightly more)?

Mostly just venting, and dusting off the stale resume and preparing for the worst.?ÿ Made Carnegie a rich man, in addition to working his arse off too.

?ÿ

Sigh.....

Many surveying and engineering/surveying companies are hiring here in the northeast. Potentially, my company may also hire someone with your qualifications. We don't do much with GIS, but you can get mentoring toward registration. Offices (listing east to west) in Boston, Framingham and Worcester, MA. The best part is that this is a PLSS-free zone.

How the hell does one even order 10 miles of silt fence anyway?

I was prepping a bid for #4 rebar 7.5 tons and that wasnt even 3 miles........oops wait, wrong conversion...it was just over4 miles.. still a painful memory....

If moving isn't a problem, give these folks a try:?ÿ https://www.dmp-inc.com/careers.php

Stable, established company that puts a premium on licensure, so there may be support in that endeavor. I don't know anyone there personally. I only know that they're stable and well respected among their clients.

@jitterboogie how should I know? I don't install silt fence - I lay it out.

Layout definition (reference source - me): making reference marks for others to measure from in order to perform their work.

Anyone who loves animals would have done the same thing given they saw the size of the lizard. However in the same situation and not seeing the size of the gator may lead to a different outcome. Also the size and location of the pond matters as well. This happens numerous times throughout Florida annually, it just doesnƒ??t make it to mainstream attention. ?????ÿ

@thebionicman

I'm fully engaged.?ÿ

My surveyor is taking a great opportunity.?ÿ He called me and said, "Hey, your worst fears are being realized...."?ÿ I joked with Him that the only reason I came to the city was because his progressive work developing a county Wide LDP?ÿ and engaging with creating a High Def/High Resolution GIS, and his PE/PLS registration, and my hours were all logging responsible work for licensure.?ÿ

His 45 years of experience have been immense, his mentorship too.?ÿ I congratulated him, and we talked about what to work on while the transition will be occurring.?ÿ I still have tons of work to get out, and now need to quantify and apply to the board, get recommendations, etc etc.

I was venting when I posted, and glad to be on a site where people do respect and have candor and engage with each other in a collegial, informal and professional manner.

I'm employed, have shelter, food, fast internet, health.?ÿ Looking for a job wasn't really on my scope currently, but in the back of my mind, i suppose I should always be open to great opportunities and never leave any stones unturned.?ÿ Nor Roses unsniffed for that matter.

?ÿ

This site is a great windfall of amazing information. and entertaining too.?ÿ I might have to step up and support it more than being a lurker and free user.

?ÿ
