They just don't make things like they used to. Today I had to replace the flavorizer bars and grill panels on my Weber gas grill because they were prematurely worn out. Here's a shot of the bars:
And they were only 17 years old!
I replaced them with stainless bars and cast iron grill panels at considerable expense, so I hope the new ones will last a respectable amount of time.
I had a Weber gas grill. I didn't like, kept burning up my food, literally.
uh, that wasn't the grill. 😛
Probably so.
I do a lot better with the weber charcoal kettle.
I fired up the cooker a few days before Easter.
After the smoke settled and the coals were at their peak, the plate under my grates collapsed. Every item on the firebox end suffered dearly.
It was 1/8 inch steel plate with 1/2 inch stamped holes on a 4 inch grid steel salvaged from a tank battery platform 40yr ago.
I've considered using stainless to replace. I have some filter trays that are 1/16 inch with 1/16in holes on a 3/8 inch grid.
Hearing marinated juices zzzzzzttt at a desirable rate is a great sound.
:good:
They lasted twice as long as the average marriage.:-/
Average length of time from marriage to separation is now 8.7 years, study reveals
don't buy webbers from big box, they are not the same grill as from webber dealers.
They will rust out a lot quicker.
