For those like me with a keen interest in the nocturnal sky?ÿI hope you have your camera lenses cleaned.?ÿ The eclipse will be visible from almost anywhere on our continent.?ÿ If there be, I hope the clouds part for you.
In the Norse eddas, a blood eclipse indicates a monster named Managarmr, the Moon Hound, swallows up the moon and stains the skies with blood. According to the Gylfaginning, Managarmr is also known as Hati Hr???øvitnisson, and is the son of Fenrir, the giant grey she-wolf.?ÿ
My understanding of a lunar eclipse isn't quite that in depth...but I will enjoy it all the same.
I have a great view from the bedroom window.?ÿ The eclipse is supposed to start around 9:40 p.m. with totality at 10:13.
The forecast is for party sunny tonight so I'm hoping the clouds won't be too much of a problem.?ÿ ?????ÿ
Well the bottom of the Moon is now in the Earth's shadow here in Denver.?ÿ Time for a little omphaloskeptic musing whilst Managarmr swallows the Moon
Sky is clear enough for a great view. ?ÿSome giant termite has chewed off the bottom third of that big sphere of green cheese. ?ÿThe little hand is roughly pointing at 10:30 on the celestial clock.
Dang little to see right now.
This is probably going to affect my reading of the sundial.
Red now. ?ÿJust the tiniest bit is normal.
Overcast and snow here tonight?ÿ
I was just out with dogs taking a few pics.?ÿ?ÿThe moon is?ÿgetting damned dark out there, but the red is starting to settle in.
Decided to come in, have a shot of Blackberry Manischewitz and watch the sports report.
The reds were spectacular before the fog developed here - very nice. Should have got out the t-2 since the optics are far superior to either of my camera lens. -5 so I skipped the Blackberry Manischewitz (which I'd probably skip if it were any other temperature too) and went for the scotch.?ÿ
I got a few pics,it was pretty cool, but I got in on it late so I didnt see too much red.
?ÿ
Moon appeared the only thing in the ice cold sky.
I got a pic at 8:40 & 9:40 and the next thing I knew it was daylight.
