Those from the steep hit the flat while those from the flat hit the steep. Just lookin' for something strange.
Mark,
but be prepared for the sun 's effects on pasty white folks from the supra-latitudes. 😉
Y'all are living the good life. looks like they need a little more seasoning.
Nice snapper, very nice shrimp and nice photos.
Friends have a rental just down the road at Fort Morgan during September. There are some stretches of beached there that haven't been developed with condos. We chip in for a week. They rent for month. It reminds me of the Gulf Coast before development or destruction by hurricanes.
Some of our soccer teams go to the Orange Beach Shoot Out tournament in the spring. I'll probably be there next spring for a tournament. If you get off by yourself and are looking for a cold brew, check out the Flora-Bama.
What is this "When not Surveying" you speak of?
Randy
WHAT??!!!??"pasty white folks"!?!?
I AM OFFENDED!!!!!!! 😉
Technically we are pinky gray, except those of us who work in the sun in warmer areas are more brownish, despite layers of sunscreen and a Tilley hat.
"color"
> Technically we are pinky gray...
I had an instrument man for years, Marcus Cochran, whose family tree most assuredly had roots in Africa. In a sandwich shop at lunch Marcus had questioned how someone had come up with "black" as a skin color, and for that matter "white", when neither skin tone bore any resemblance to black or white.
The sandwich shop was next to a Sherwin-Williams paint store. After lunch we trotted in and spent a good amount of time in front of the most magnificent color chart. We determined that I was "Almond Sand" while Marcus was "Chestnut Bronze".
Marcus did point out that if there had been a color named "Cracker" it would have fit better than "Almond Sand".....:snarky:
things to do when not surveying....Open an Antique Store
Not kidding. During my survey work to various parts of the country, I have often bought old stuffs from folks around the site. These are usually the small villages too far away from the city. I have bought old sewing machines, type writers, signs, coins, etc.
If you watch the History Channel's show The Pickers, it's something similar.
During some survey work in the past, I have unearthed some old bottles maybe 100 years old from river beds; coins when I plant comer monuments; bullets embedded in tree trunks.
