..the cyanocitta cristata (cyanotephra). They've been noticably absent for almost a year here in south-central Oklahoma. I think there was even a post about where they go when they disappear.

Just heard one outside the window. Maybe it's a good sign...

Ain't no Romans trottin' 'round this place so fer as ah no. We had a whole school full of dem critters of all sizes and shapes and ages until a reorganizashun. Now we gots a couple hunert timberwolves inside dem wallz every week.

I recolleck I ain't heerd a jayburd in nigh on a yar now. Think I jes' heerd one back by the paw-paw tree. 😉

They seem to have been absent for many years in the Carolinas. I heard they were hard hit by the bird flu.

The jaybird is a varmit bird that preys on other birds and will destroy their eggs.

Them and grackles may be entertaining to watch but they are not very liked around here.
