The youngest daughter fulfilled her nine month mission about two hours ago.?ÿ Got the official "You got one more grandkid" call an hour ago.?ÿ Ten fingers, ten toes and proof of being male.?ÿ The plan is to call him by his middle name.?ÿ That's probably good because of the first name they chose.?ÿ Holy.?ÿ Can you believe it.?ÿ Hasn't been another Holy in the family since my mother's father.?ÿ Poor kid is going to grow up tough when his buddies discover what his first name is.?ÿ Think of all the middle names you could put with Holy and most of them aren't good.
Congratulations.
But I think it's a bad idea to call someone by their middle name, and as we use more technology it causes more confusion.
I also think that any nickname should resemble the official name: Richard is Rich or Rick, not Dick, etc.?ÿ William should be Will, not Bill.?ÿ My name is not William but I frequently have to set people straight.
My brother in law uses his middle name, and when we visited him in the hospital I had to think hard for the first name they insist on using for him.
...The plan is to call him by his middle name.?ÿ That's probably good because of the first name they chose.?ÿ Holy...
Congrats Papa.?ÿ Another arrow in your quiver.?ÿ I'm assuming mom is resting.
And just asking...but do your wimmen folk up there have doctors and go to a hospital..or do they just call a midwife and the veterinarian??ÿ 😉
A fellow Iowan that I knew well was Wilbur Davis at the John Deere plant in Ottumwa.?ÿ People who knew him very well called him Bill.?ÿ He was the first Wilbur I had ever heard of called Bill.
People love to make assumptions.?ÿ Ginny must really be Virginia.?ÿ Jennie must be Jennifer.?ÿ Bob must be Robert.?ÿ Joe must be Joseph.?ÿ Wrong, wrong, wrong and wrong based on four people I know well.
Mac is really Clarence, but, you see, his last name is McDonald, thus Mac.?ÿ I know a fellow who goes simply by H.?ÿ If pushed, he will admit to being H.H. Lastname.?ÿ He was given old family names that no one should use to name a stray dog, in his opinion.
Worked with a fellow who went by the rather uncommon name Vail.?ÿ I knew his initials were V. V. so I asked him one day what his middle name was.?ÿ He said, "Vail".?ÿ He had decided that Vaughn, his first name, was a no go in his opinion.
After being induced at 10 p.m. Monday and finally delivering at 5 p.m. Wednesday she probably has other names for them and will be inspecting the certificates they have hanging on their office walls.
All Ol' Granddad has to do is show up this coming weekend and confirm that the greatest child ever born into this world is healthy.?ÿ That's after the COVID test and six layers of protection that the mother will demand prior to touching said golden child.?ÿ Anyone who hasn't had a tetanus shot in the past 3 months and proof thereof is not allowed on the premises.?ÿ They brought me home from the hospital in a farm pickup.?ÿ Now you know what set my pattern early in life.
If your nickname is Bill and your full name is not William, then what is it:
Billy, Billie, Billfold, Billabong, Billionaire ...?
Some moons ago I mentioned in another thread that when I was a graduate engineer working on a large site project, we had a Christmas function and the staff (all male) were required to fill out an invitation list with the names of their wives. One of the senior staff had a wife named Brian, and she was indeed a (naturally born) woman. What was even more incredible was that the reason why her parents named her Brian, was perfectly logical. I just can't for the life of me remember what the reason was.

"Holy Guacamole" ain't too bad. Especially?ÿwith tortilla chips.
George who always wears a cap with a bill on it, of course.
I sort of know a fellow?ÿ whose name is William Frederick Lastname.?ÿ The family called him Bill Fred from an early age.?ÿ He never married.?ÿ He never moved out of the house.?ÿ His parents died when he was past 60.?ÿ He never paid for rent, utilities, food, anything and let his parents support him.?ÿ What money he earned, he spent on his on desires.?ÿ His two brothers and one sister changed the name to Bill Free with disgust.?ÿ In the end, his parents left him everything because the others had succeeded in life and Bill Free needed it.
Stay out of the military if you go by Will.?ÿ There's always someone shouting, "Fire at Will".
He looked upon the Holy Cattle and saw that they were Good
