Currently 102 heat index of 113. And it is not a dry heat. Terrible.
Tomorrow looks to be even worse..

Could we dispense with the catterwalling and for once just enjoy the summer, it only comes once a year, and you don't hear me complaining about DST every single day. 🙂

Says the guy from Houston - probably never enjoyed a traverse on a sunny 20 degree day.

Did manage to survive a brutal summer in Jefferson City. I did like that. 🙂
It's downright miserable a little bit of everywhere right now.
At about 2:00 this afternoon it was 101 and felt like 110.
At about 5:00 this afternoon it was only 99 and felt like 107.
Lucky for us, now at 8:15 it is only 95 and feels like 104.
A huge salute goes out to Willis Carrier and his first electric air conditioner in 1902.
Mowed my yard plus part of my neighbors today and finished about 2pm
Went straight to the well and washed off and gave fresh water for the dog
Straight into the house and put clothes into washer and was half way thru the house when clients were outside to get their papers.
Had to hid hurry and find some clothes as they entered the back door.
After that saw the clothes in the wash had not begun to wash
Water pump was fried
About an hour ago got connected to my neighbors garden faucet
New motor will be in Tuesday..................
Now, Where is my beer?

Whenever the topic of working outside and the weather came up when I was in the field full time I told this story:
So the weather in Kyoto is kind of like that in the Mid-Atlantic; hot and humid in the summer, cold and damp with occasional heavy wet snow in the winter. A visitor to a Buddhist monestary asked one of the monks how do they cope with the weather.
"In the summer when it is so hot and humid you wear those heavy woolen robes all the time. In the winter you are in these flimsy buildings with no insulation and all you have for heat is a few braziers to burn coal. What to you do?"
The monk smiled and said, "In the summer, we're hot; in the winter we're cold."

I'm going to buy Willis a beer and an expensive dinner as well as the salute. The poor guy is looking rather skinny after being dead for so long.

It was a record setting day 108 in StL; before you add the heat index...
