This reminds me of a working man I met a couple of days ago who had the label "Half Ton" on his jacket where many would have their first name.?ÿ He explained that many years ago his father, who is a big ol' boy, was given the nickname Ton to replace his given name, Ron.?ÿ Thus, the son who is another big ol' boy, was nicknamed Half Ton to replace his given name, Craig.?ÿ He said his son is known as Quarter Ton.

One of the answers is the infinity sign and another involves two basically conical shapes.

  1. involves one of those ƒ??find a word with a weird propertyƒ? tricks that I have no aptitude for and therefore dislike.?ÿ But on second thought, it is a TON.
  2. This probably would be on some astronomical body with a slow rotation, so Iƒ??m already dead and the time doesnƒ??t matter.
  3. There may be more than one logical thought train for this kind of puzzle and the ƒ??rightƒ? answer is only what the test writer thought. Iƒ??d say choice (d) violates the color scheme of all the rest. If I was in a hurry to complete a test, I would say that because (b) and (d) have the same set of shapes and it canƒ??t be (d) then (b) must be right, as test writers like to give you foils that are similar to the right answer. ?ÿ ?ÿ ?ÿ If I have time to ponder longer, I note that going from left to right have the shapes swapped along a vertical axis and up and down is swapped on a horizontal axis. ?ÿ ?ÿ ?ÿ So the one that is double swapped is (b).
  4. The numeral 8, turned makes infinity and cut makes zeros.
  5. (a) same speed because the length of wheel surface moving past a contact point is the same for all wheels.
  6. No change. The weight of the suitcase was displacing the same amount of water when it was in the boat.
  7. This is another word trick that I donƒ??t do.
  8. (b)
  9. I dunno. Is this a word trick?
  10. Another word trick.

7. Is a secret.

9.?ÿ This is not a trick.?ÿ I provided a clue above.

10. Is a map with cities, mountains and bodies of water shown but no details.

I'm fairly certain the answer to #2 is not in a minimum security prison for members of the opposite sex.?ÿ But, it sounds like it could be fun.?ÿ Or not.?ÿ Imagination being rejected by hundreds of otherwise horny females.

Horny females with an hour glass shape could be the answer to your question.

#3 b mirrors and changes shade on all three axes.

10. Another word trick.

You look at them regularly, and certainly have used them back in the good old days. ?????ÿ

@flga-2-2

The internet says:

If you look carefully, there are two kinds of things in I have cities but no houses riddle. Some things can be usually found on a map, while others are not usually seen on a map. All the things in the riddle which are referred to as ƒ??I haveƒ?? are mentioned in a regular map. Therefore the correct answer to I have cities but no houses riddle is a map.

But that's not cheating; it's using all available resources...

Back in the good old days? I still use them today!

I'm sure it's not the answer but I would prefer to be on death row for a year as opposed to only one day.?ÿ Perhaps a nun from his past would find FL/GA and beat the truth out of him that he did it, not me.

@holy-cow

How can a line through the middle (not the centroid) of a cylinder be equidistant from all surfaces within? I thought you guys were engineers. (giggle, snort) ?????ÿ

@flga-2-2

A line going through Option A will not be the same distance to the nearest point on the surface at all points along the line.?ÿ The same holds true for Option D and Option C.?ÿ The only line with every point being equidistant to the nearest point on the surface along the line is Option B.

It comes down to tricky assumptions being applied by the writer of the question as to where the line is to be located.?ÿ ?ÿ There is not a linear middle of any option other than Option B.?ÿ Bad question.?ÿ Throw it out.

Answers

  1. A ton is equivalent to 2,000 pounds, but if you spell the word "ton" backwards you get the word 'not.'
  2. Venus. Venus rotates so slowly on its axis that a day on the planet is actually longer than the time it takes to orbit around the Sun. As per NASA, a day on Venus lasts 5,8323 hours. So that means the planets orbital period is 225 Earth days, while the length of a day on Venus is the equivalent on 116 days and 18 hours.
  3. B. The pattern mirrors adjacent shapes but in different colors.
  4. The number 8. On its side, it looks like an infinity symbol. Cut in half it looks like two zeros.
  5. A. Wheels of the same radius at the start & end of the sequence will spin at the same speed.
  6. No. Water is already being displaced by the weight and density of the boat's hull. The weight taken away from the boat's hull will go into the water meaning there is no difference.
  7. If the numbers are referring to times. 8:00 + 8:00 = 16:00, 16:00 = 4pm.
  8. B. For the mathematicians, itƒ??s essentially asking for the locus of a straight line.
  9. The hourglass, which has thousands of grains of sand in it.
  10. A map.

@flga-2-2 If your answer to #7 is correct, I want some of what you're having.
