no kidding Andy
Just because I'm a bad shot, it's still fun to scare them. The gal pals come back for more shooting, but I've gotta chase after those other birds.
Hope the shoulder does you right - that's gotta suck. One of my friends messed his up years ago and learned to shoot left handed. At least you've got that canine avatar that should be of some assistance. I've got buddies with dogs - perfect.
I've given up on big game, but around here quail are fun if it's not too hot out. (seems wierd to hunt in shorts) I go back to 'da MI UP in Oct for the real fun birds in real bird weather. I may get 3 or 4, so it works out to about $1,500 a pound. Not bad, eh....;-)

A few weeks of cutting line, planting hubs, or driving rebar into that rocky maine dirt will cure that. Your chainman may need some time at the gun anyway.
I re-discovered the 22LR about six years ago. I began shooting in the NYS Sporter Rifle league. Great fun and very affordable, even with mid-grade target ammo.
I carry an expert average of 282 out of 300, but got lucky with the first 5 matches and got classified as Master (285 or greater). We shoot the A32 target many shot in high school competition.
We're getting into the Civilian Marksmanship Sporter Rifle matches. These are three position shoots with scaleable targets. Smaller ones at 50' indoor ranges and the larger 50 yard targets for spring and summer on the outdoor ranges.
Shoot more, shoot more often.
Rick
I consider myself a good shot, but I was a good shot long before I ever thought of being a surveyor.
I know of at least one surveyor that is afraid of guns, so I guess the contrary can be shown.
Evan, I think 35 years of cutting line and riding BMW motorcycles has permanently damaged my wrists. Hell, I haven't ever met a rodman who could keep up with me when cutting line and I sure as hell will never give up BMWs.
