Hey, has anyone got an email from a local surveyor saying he is in Spain, got robbed in the park, and needs some money to get home? It had his home/ work address, phone #, etc, and looked legitimate. Says they got his cell phone too.
There are so many scams nowdays, its hard to tell what is going on.
Otherwise, maybe we need to take up a love offering or something.
I had typed his name, but had second thoughts and edited it out.
I replied to the email, so we'll see what happens. It looked correct, also.
Weird.
SCAM
That sounds like a scam. Same thing happened to the TBPLS investigator last year. What's worse is the scammer put in a fake telephone number so some poor sole was getting hundreds of calls from friends who were calling to report the hacked email account or confirm the story. I would hold on to your wallet on this one.
SCAM
Yep, it is a scam. We got one at home a while back that looked like it came from a former co-worker of my wife, saying she had been robbed while on vacation and was stranded and needed money wired to her. My wife called her cell number and she answered - she was at work.
There are some clever criminals out there. Don't trust anything you aren't certain is genuine, no matter how "real" it looks.
SCAM
yep, it's a scam, I talked to the surveyor.
It's different than I've seen yet, though, the best looking one so far, and from somebody that I know.
SCAM
Being from someone you know does make it look more authentic. You did the right thing by checking with the "source."
