So you DC surveyors, are you also licensed in Virginia and Maryland? How does a license in DC work? Asking for a friend.

In Dc, there is Licensed, and Registered. DCALs has a manual, know it, know the history of DC, the County, the City and Georgetown surveying differences, proration, etc. Wall Checks, Surveys to Mark, Theoretical Lots...ƒ??.

?ÿ

I am licensed in Maryland but not Virginia.

The D.C. license is an odd duck because the city was run by the federal government and the ?ÿ"official" surveying (boundary retracement, wall checks required for building permits) was performed by government employees at the Office of the Surveyor up until and after Home Rule was established and a D.C. Government created between 1968 and 1973. ?ÿEven now those activities are performed by Registered Surveyors, a subset of Licensed Surveyors who are acting basically as agents of the DC Surveyors Office ?ÿ

PM me your email and I'll scan some info in the next couple of days....currently on a short sabbatical and not in a big rush to do anything. ?????ÿ

FYI... I'm licensed in MD, DC & VA (amongst others). ?ÿ

@james-fleming

I find this quite interesting!  I had never given this much thought being a Midwesterner.  Thanks for the little history lesson!  I'd like to research into this a little further just for knowledge.
