Mowing the lawn today, brought back memories from circa 1970. I had a song stuck in side my head; and then remembered the song in my head when I was mowing the lawn when I was a kid:
?ÿ
I miss my Dad.....
Ah, yes, 1970.
?ÿ
Here's a list of the top 100 songs of 1970.?ÿ It's scary how many come back to mind so easily just by seeing the title.
#65 was played at something like two trillion weddings in the 1970's and beyond

@holy-cow Wow. That sure brings back some memories. That was my first year at a Junior College. It was more like 2 more years of high school, everyone knew everyone else by the end of the year. 8 track tapes and transistor radios. I can remember bush hogging a 200 acre pasture with a large transistor mounted on the fender of that 2010 John Deere with the volume turned to max so I could hear it above the mower.

You've said it and I've said it. We both grew up on the same farm a million miles apart. I was running a 2010 John Deere, too. It had one big problem. The axle/wheel attachment was faulty. As I recall there were four big bolts that you loosened to run the rear wheel in for standard use or out for row crop use. There was a certain foot-pound spec for re-tightening them. That did not work. During general use the wheel would start to move sideways. Once while disking, the wheel moved out enough that it came off. Suddenly, I was making a sharp right turn and leaning at a terrible angle to the right as the whole tractor tipped that way. Jacking up the tractor and getting the wheel back on was a job for a dozen men and a dozen boys out in the middle of that field. Another time my dad was going to take the tractor down the road a short distance on a very icy day to pull a vehicle out of the ditch for a very unlucky driver. As he turned from our driveway onto the road the wheel slid off the axle. Almost threw him out of his seat. No cab in those days, you know. Fortunately for me, I was in school at the time it happened,

** SNIFFLES!! **
You would not know this, but this is the song that my mom dedicated to me when I was born. (Sept 13, 1970.)
I was just thinking about her...
Well, I am always thinking about her and dad, but every so often I will tell her "Ok, I am going crazy down here. Life is getting strange. I miss you and dad awfully. Mom, can you hear me? If you can, show me a sign of some sort like you always do!" Usually she will send me a sign with one of our songs, or a coin, or something else that is significant to her and I.
You posted this and my jaw dropped. There's my sign. ?
April 9th will be 63 years since old Doc Colert smacked me on my Arse and welcomed me into the world...
How may people can tell you the name of the doctor that delivered them?
My Dad passed on my oldest daughters 40th birthday; October 4th 2015.
How may people can tell you the name of the doctor that delivered them?
Dr. Sylvanus Weston Corbin, in his clinic in a building that is now a private residence. He was born about 1885, so was 65 years old, but continued to practice for about another decade.
Dr. Corbin
By the time I could remember him, we had a county hospital so he had moved his office to rooms in a building on the town square, and he didn't have patient beds.
Once in a great while I can still recall the taste of the cough syrup he mixed up in multi-gallon batches and bottled for the patients.?ÿ I imagine it had molasses, cherry flavoring, some sort of liquor, and a shot of codeine.?ÿ I always wished I knew his recipe.

The doctor that delivered SWMBO also delivered our first 2 kids; Dr. Longo.
I have a daughter who was born on October 4, also. Different year, but close.
The doctor who delivered me was Dr. Emery Bryan. He finally retired when I was about 40. During my Senior year of high school there was a severe case of head lice going around our school. The day that was selected to have Dr. Bryan visit the high school to inspect every student was a poor choice as most of the Seniors were on a day trip to a local community college to evaluate possibly enrolling there. We received word that all of us were to drop in at his office before going home because the end of the school day had arrived before we returned. My carload of buddies looked at each other in a drunken stupor and said, "He ought to enjoy this." He took one look at us and knew what we had been doing on our return trip. I remember asking him if alcohol would kill lice.
Aww...October 2015 was a bad month for me, too. My mom died on Oct. 19, 2015. ???
