Today I was Splitting up a 15" dia. sweet gum tree with my monster maul. I had cut the tree down and cut it into about 8" slices and then split it where it fell. I was splitting a cob that was about 25' from the base, that had a knob sticking out the side. When it split open there was a small void inside with a snake skin all tangled inside the void. I looked closely at the surface of the split portions of the knob, and there was no hole allowing entry to the void.
Beyond it, is another dimension.....

pictures? sounds like a mystery that needs to be solved!
Sorry no pictures, my dog was very interested in the snake, and made off with it. It looked to be a small snake only about a foot long.
Snake probably made his way in through a hole, which later grew shut.
Yes, that must be what happened years ago. Perhaps there were more branches for him to climb with. Either way it was quite a climb, and quite a surprise to find what remained of him there.

I'll bet it surprised him, too.(the snake)
What a strange fate that was for the little guy........
Was it just the skin or the remains of the snake? They shed their skin
in places that allow them security from enemies. They are vulnerable
when shedding.
It was the skin.
