Don Blameuser, Chris Wickern, Trimble Man, Sam Clemons, Ty Olenhouse, Paul Cook, Ian Wilson, Jim Petty, Spur4$, and a hundred more could really help us out here if they were to find their way back. ?ÿA few other names come to mind, but they were experts at stirring up major trouble resulting in some posters leaving permanently.
A number of those posters are alive and pretty regular posters on Facebook, many of which I am FB friends with. Chris, Deral, Ty, Ian and Paul for sure are active on FB. Some of them no longer survey, so maybe why they don't frequent this board.
Good to hear from @bruce-small and go get that Corvette!

Ty used to post on Facebook, but I haven't seen anything from him in quite awhile.?ÿ I think he moved to Florida, and was living in a tent last I heard, maybe trying to make it as a musician.
?ÿ
He was in Texas someplace for a good while, posted in last week he was going to Costa Rica I believe it was.

10 years Bill Strange has been gone and I somehow had missed that news, RIP sir.

I am reminded of JOBO each time I see the CORS map in Washington state with his name!

I liked reading Mr. Jerry Penry posts about?ÿ his surveying jaunts and WWII research. I follow him on American Surveyor. Here his latest articles

Jerry is very active on Facebook, see posts almost daily there. In fact, I am way more active on FB these days than here, I think that may be the case for a number of folks?

And once in awhile Facebook suggests I might know Tedd Dura, happened again just today, have resisted the urge so far 🙂 It seems we have something like 20 common friends...
SHG
Ted doesn't post very often, and very innocuous when he does.

@dave-karoly good to know, so maybe next time FB suggests Tedd I should do it?

I am not very active at all on FB, maybe I need to get more active, seems like a lot of survey contacts there.?ÿ
On Facebook, if one posts maliciously about politicians or anyone for that matter they could be in some trouble with government investigators or others. Making threats, hate speech and other aberrant behavior is monitored and also flagged. So one should be on their best behavior and?ÿ only post cute little cat video clips
You lost me at "we all pigged out" on the Isreal vacation.... too funny.. glad all is well.?ÿ

I have never run into trouble there, just like I haven't here. FB is a bit more of a free for all than here, but just like here you risk getting booted if the owner deems you violated the terms of service.
I'm friends w Deral Paulk on FB. (Aka Trimble man)
He's retired. Then a little more tired!
It seems he's beyond coords, datum, and paychecks.
😉

Deral blogged frequently about his job in Oklahoma
He encouraged me to start with the same kind of posts about what I did in the field in Belgium.
I'm not on FB but say hello to Deral from Christof from Belgium if you meet him there.
I remember also Peter Lazio, Donald Poole and Scott parteridge as frequent posters
And not to forget John Minor.
And Perry Williams: I miss his stories of his field, food, and musical exploits.
Scott Partridge was the first POB'r that responded to my initial post there.... the ubiquitous?ÿ "looking for recommendations for a GPS setup" post that we all roll our eyes at.?ÿ Thankfully, Scott didn't do that, but helped me and shared a lot of good info over the years.?ÿ I hope he is doing well, eh??ÿ
And it's been over a year since we heard from Scott Zelenak, the WTC Surveyor.?ÿ @scott-zelenak
