I'm not sure how safe this is:

I've seen similar snow walls in the Beartooths and the Big Horns, but not 50' tall which is what the article says these get up too. Have a wall collapse with all those tourists...........

Seeing that photo reminds me of when I took my mom up to Crater Lake during a RARE heat wave in June when it was 100º down in the valley. I told her "Mom, it's about 90º or so up there, so it's OK to wear shorts. Just bring gloves cause there's still 12 feet of snow at the top." Well, she was skeptical but she wore her shorts.

So, along the drive the side of the road gets whiter and whiter until we're surrounded by 10" or more of snow walls and a road. She nagged and nagged me, "Angel, you told me it's going to be WARM up here! All I SEE IS !@#$% SNOW!! I'M GONNA KICK YOUR ASS!"
I tried to reassure her, but...no dice. The next 45 minutes were nothing but a gripefest about snow walls, how she had no pants, no jacket, etc... Finally we get to the top. She whines some more..."I don't see no lake here. All I see is SNOW!!" I tell her "Mom, you have to get OUT of the van and CLIMB the steps onto the TOP of the 12" snow piled up and you'll see it."

So, she FINALLY gets out of the dang van and...TA DA!! She FINALLY shuts up!! She is dumbfounded that there's ALL of this snow and its 90º+ out!! She starts to run up to find the lake and throw snowballs at us. She says "Angel you HAVE to take a photo of this!! Me wearing shorts in the SNOW!! NO ONE will believe me!!" (I'm thinking "I know, I just went through it driving up here.") Anyhow, here's that pic. :-$

Sometimes it is hard to imagine someone wanting to kiss the lips that say things like the following. "All I SEE IS !@#$% SNOW!! I'M GONNA KICK YOUR ASS!"

Yet, your father kissing those sweet lips led to your existence on this Earth.:-P 😉 😛

I remember seeing something similar going up Beartooth Pass one June day back in 1995. Except they were about 10'-15' high. And yes folks were still skiing. Pretty cool to see that.
