Angel you commented that the shark picture in Deral's blog looked like he was in the water with it. These pictures are from one of our sharking trips and I was not in the water with the blue shark but we were up close and personal with it.

Thanks for sharing those, Floyd!! :good:
What is a "sharking" trip anyhow? That shark in your pics looks very friendly. At first I thought it was a weird dolphin. 😛
The day I took the pictures we were fishing for sharks, the blue shark swam past the baits to the boat. Yes, blue sharks are like hippies, "Dud feed me." They are very laid back but still are in the top level of sharks that eat people. You can eat blue sharks but they are not very good. Mako and Thresher sharks are are very good eating and are what are brought back to the dock. The rest of the sharks are released and hopefully tagged (think note in a bottle) before being released. I have had sharks that were caught again after 6-7 years after I tagged them and had two blue sharks that I tagged that were caught off the coast of Africa. I caught a 388lb. Mako shark that was tagged 8 years before at 150lbs. Because there has been overfishing and that they are slow glowing there is a limit of one shark per boat over 54" from the fork of the tail to the tip of the nose per boat per day.
Dolphin Pictures for Angel
These are Dolphin pictures.
Dolphins love to ride the pressure wave coming off the bow of a boat. You will see a whole school of dolphin coming at the boat and they jockey for position to ride the bow wave.

I have to say...I have never tried shark meat before. I hear it has therapeutic healing stuff in it, though.
The dolphins!!! Awwwww!!! Look at that one flying!!!
Next time we go to Hawaii that is on my agenda. Snorkel on the dolphin cruise!! Such sweet animals they are...

Floyd: your second pic of the dolphin jumping, never seen one jump that high, very very cool!
these pix of mine are of a pod we ran across on Todos Santos Bay on Sat.
no high jumpers 🙁
as you can see, the wind was light (15knots+/-) and we were sliding along at about 5 knots, but they still like to run with us and give us the eye.
where do you fish out of, NY somewhere?

Peter,
Seeing a jump in the second picture is rare. We also get dolphin swimming toward the boat and then get up and tail walk away from the boat. From ten miles offshore to the edge of the continental shelf (60-70 miles offshore) seeing dolphin and whales are fairly common. We fish out of Shinnecock Inlet, NY.
Shark Video for Angel
Interesting video. All but three of the sharks were females. Usually there is more of a mix.
