Lynard Skynard's original drummer, Bob Burns, died in a one car accident last week.
Burns quit the group after their third album, exhausted from the touring "lifestyle". He had quit before the band's infamous plane crash in 1977 but was with the band in their 2006 induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
His car left the road and hit a tree; an eerie reminder of the lyrics "Oak tree you're in my way..".

That was the first of two wrecks that killed rockers here in Metro Atlanta. A van with about a dozen members of two bands ran off I-85. 4 killed and 8 injured. These were heavy metal bands that I had never heard of, but still a tragedy.

Always. Life is too short anyway without adding to the attrition with extraneous events.
I just thought it weird that he had quit the band in 1977 wanting to survive the "wild lifestyle"...only to get snuffed in a car wreck. Although I guess he probably did add to his years by getting out of the rock & roll business.
Life is perpetually unpredictable I guess.

You and I are about the same age so I know that you have some similar stories. A friend from high school went to Vietnam and was in ordinance disposal. He disarmed/exploded booby traps. He survived his entire tour without a scratch. He was home about a month when he was killed by a drunk driver.
Don't take a day for granted, tell the ones that you love how you feel every day.
