Gary Richrath, REO Speedwagon's guitarist passed away at age 65. Damn good rocker....RIP and ride the storm out....
Hadn't seen them since Super jam in 77 or 78. We are seeing a lot of the greats go now. The clock stands still for no man...
Wow... he was a good one. My favorite song by them is Golden Country.
That's sad,
RIP Gary
Reo Speedwagon became famous in Europe with the high infidelity album and the 'keep on lovin' you' hit single, not so much with the work from the earlier years.
I had the pleasure to see them performing here in Belgium 5 or so years ago. That was a nice and energetic show!

I've seen them live 3 or 4 times, but its been quite a while ago. I'm not sure why he left the band but I always thought Gary Richrath was more of a true rocker and Keven Cronin(sp?) got into more of the pop 40 stuff. Their early stuff was really good.
REO Speedwagon was a solid band and produced a long list of hits with songs that ranged from ballads to pure rock.
RIP
At one point, if I remember right, Kevin Cronin had left - he wasn't the singer on the studio version of Riding The Storm Out, or on Back On The Road Again, which is one of my favorite songs by them. He came back and is of course famous for his live versions of Riding The Storm Out. But yeah, they went pretty pop toward the end.
If you google Gary Richrath there is a picture of him, didn't recognize him...jamming....changed quite a bit, but I guess we all age differently...
