3=Friday. The “day before tomorrow” is today; “the day before two days after” is really one day after.
4's got something to do with lying on the day that they say they are lying so it's the truth; or something like that. Google wasn't any help...

The "Let's Make a Deal" Monty Hall thing doesn't play into this, if I understand correctly.
It's the same principal. Pulling the trigger or opening one door changes the odds for the next try. Here you would rather not change the odds so choose to re-randomize.
