A local radio station hosted a roundtable of hosts/reporters from NYC, Washington and local. They replayed some of the early reports from that terrible day. Folks, I'm still more than a little angry that we were so cowardly attacked, but we do have to get on with living.
There are reports of terror threats for Sunday. I won't ask you to pray but I'm going to. Scott Z., Sicilian Cowboy and the others in and around New York, y'all have my thoughts with you. Keep your heads up and stay safe.

On Sunday September 11th, 2011, everyone needs to display the flag of these ?United States of America?!!!
On Sunday, September 11th, 2011, an American flag should be displayed outside every home, apartment, office, and store in the United States. Every individual should make it their duty to display an American flag on this tenth anniversary of one of our country's worst tragedies. We do this to honor those who lost their lives on 9/11, their families, friends and loved ones who continue to endure the pain, and those who today are fighting at home and abroad to preserve our cherished freedoms.
In the days, weeks and months following 9/11, our country was bathed in American flags as citizens mourned the incredible losses and stood shoulder-to-shoulder against terrorism. Sadly, those flags have all but disappeared. Our patriotism pulled us through some tough times and it shouldn't take another attack to galvanize us in solidarity. Our American flag is the fabric of our country and together we can prevail over terrorism of all kinds.
Action Plan:
So, here's what we need to do:
1. Forward this email to everyone you know - at least 11 people [USE bcc]. Take a moment to think back to how you felt on 9/11 and let those sentiments guide you.
2. Fly an American flag of any size on 9/11.
Thank you for your participation... God Bless You and God Bless America!
In agreement, time to dig out the Flag and find a pole.

So far this weekend:
Every truck crossing the RFK (formerly Triborough)Bridge on the way into Manhattan was pulled over and inspected, at least for the brief period I was passing through (around 8 AM). They all had to present their license/registration/lading orders, etc., and open up the box.
According to my wife, who took the subway into Manhattan this afternoon, the NYPD had squeezed all the lanes shut on the Edward I. Koch (formerly the Queensborough/59th Street) Bridge, so that only one lane passes onto Second Avenue at the foot of the ramp. Taffic is backed up all the way accross the bridge and well into Sunnyside and Long Island City.
The Secret Service came around to our field crews working at Tower One and asked if they had any equipment that was "radioactive".
It's gonna be a l o n g weekend.
FWIW, my most moving memory of 9-11 and the period right after is meeting so many people who came from other parts of the country to help out. I met people from Illinois, Oklahoma, Alabama and Wisconson, just to name a few the ones I remember most. They worked on the food trucks and on washing stations and just around wherever some volunteer help was needed. Each one had a story of why they were there, and it was great to see so many areas of the country come together, even though for a very sad reason.
