I had a spinal fusion (L4-L5), a a spinal decompression and a laminectomy last Wednesday, 01-17-18. About a 5 hour procedure.

Got home Saturday after 3 PT sessions at the hospital. I am walking freely without a walker, but have one at the ready if needed.

12cm incision with a very nasty blistering of the surrounding skin due to the tape adhesive. Dissolving stitches under the skin.

It really f'n hurts but quite less now. Rehab and visiting nurse currently. I walked 75 feet the day after and the therapist was impressed. Cannot bend down and some movements are verboten.

But the pain in my legs is gone and my surgeon, a woman. says all looks good for gull recovery and success.

4-6 weeks recovery is usual for this type of surgery.

Very grateful I chose the right surgeon and procedure and I am glad to be up and about.

Chuck, that hurts to think about.

Will pray for you today.

I cannot imagine the pain.

Hang in there, Chuck.

What do you plan to do with the gull when you recover it? ?ÿMy mother used to recover sofas and chairs. ??ÿ ??ÿ ??ÿ ??ÿ ??ÿ ??ÿ

Chuck, I'm glad you seem to be healing well. I had a very similar back surgery (L4-L5) with the same procedures as you 4 years ago.

I had a great outcome; in retrospect I wish I had done it earlier because it would have saved me a lot of suffering. I hope your recovery goes smoothly and that you have good results too.

Hi?ÿChuck, Best of luck to you.

Today's medical procedures and physical therapy can do wonders. But it is a painful journey along the way.

BTW: My daughter accepted a scholarship, and is heading into 6 years of college for Physical Therapy. She had a torn ACL a few years,?ÿwith surgery?ÿand PT, which helped identify her career goals.

I was gonna say some smart-ass comment too, but I figured it might be painful to laugh.

Get well soon Chuck!

I took care of my wife several years ago after two spine surgeries and I am not the nurturing type.?ÿ She was in a lot of pain just after surgery, so, you certainly have my sympathy.?ÿ It is a road to normalcy and I hope you have a quick trip

Way back in 1970 or 1971 my high school Government teacher announced to the class one day that he had apparently been educating the wrong end of my body because I definitely had a smart ass. ?ÿNothing has changed. ?ÿWell, both of us are much older now, if that counts.

Now Sunday AM and I am walking quite freely with a little wobble every so often.

Incision is still very tender but dry and healing well.

Thanks for all the well wishes guys, truly appreciated.
