Not only Gmail but Hotmail also. I had a returned e-mail from most people in my address book. I did not send them.

WHAT'S GOING ON!!!
I just got a BUNCH of returned emails and I hadn't sent out ANY! I don't do Facebook and MSN is my browser and email. I got one return email from Larry Phipps that said my account must have been hacked. It must be related to this site!!
WHAT'S GOING ON!!!
I have not exchanged private emails with anyone here and so far I've not been hit.
WHAT'S GOING ON!!!
I have not exchanged private emails either!!
Mine came from C, from Brooks Cooper
Is there a chance that an outside link or video posted here is the source? I've gotten some pretty nasty viruses in the past from mainstream news sites when 3rd party content on their sites was compromised.
There was one in my box from deral that wasn't from deral. It also had no subject and is nothing but a link. All of the emails begin with R and I recognize most of them as surveyors.
I DID NOT click on the link.
Not directly email related, but ...
I've been to a number of web pages that very obviously can read the Facebook cookie in your browser. Usually "news" type pages where you can make comments. I see my Facebook picture, name, and an empty comment box.
As an experiment, I deleted my facebook cookie and went back to the same site. No picture, comment box or name.
What else can these pages read? I have a tendency to NOT accept cookies from sites I visit casually, but there are some I visit regularly (beerleg et al) which I want to keep.

I am close enough to take a road trip.
Be careful out there.
I got one from Deral this morn
And will delete it in a minute...

Wendell,
I think the source is the POB RPLS.com database. I say this as there were a few on my work computer (government) that were from surveyors on that board (and I suspect on this board too) that I had not corresponded with ever before, as well as some I had. My work email was never in my profile on the old RPLS.com profile, nor here on the Leg, but is over there as some moron with initals MF had called me out as hiding behind an alias. I should go change it again as I never am going to convince an idiot of something, he has more experience at that level than I do.
if you have Gmail
check your "sent" message folder.. I just looked at mine and noticed that emails sent between march 7 and last night have been eradicated. (except for one)
I know I sent something last night just before I left the office and they got it. where it is now I have no idea. I wonder if it has something to do with the spammers?
> I think the source is the POB RPLS.com database.
And for a reasonable fee, anyone can purchase that database
I received it from Keith Williams on my gmail address. I did not click on the link and I deleted the message and emptied my trash.
As far as I know no one received it from me; I haven't received any bounces (the usual result of spoof e-mails).
On gmail you can log out all connections (in case someone is logged in to your e-mail box) then change your password. I had to do that a few months ago. It kept showing me logged in on my wife's computer even though all my connections were logged out. I'm not sure if someone was really logged in or if it was a glitch in the gmail system which seemed slow for a while to show you logged out. Since I changed my password I haven't had that happen.
A friend had his hotmail account taken over (someone hacked it and changed his password and security question). It took him a week to convince hotmail to give him back his account.
Pob calls me about every 6 months wanting me to renew my subscription!
And every time they want more and more personal info.
They tried to trick me into telling them when my birthday was last time.
I just hung up!
And I have been getting huge amounts of junk mail at my p.o. Box.
Now I know why

I've been getting a lot more junk emails lately and yesterday a phone call from somebody wanting to know who in our firm specifies generators on plans or something like that. It seemed to correspond to my signing up for a couple of "groups" on Linkedin but maybe it's POB.
My GMAIL account sent a spam email to everybody in the contacts list. Fortunately (so far) they all see it as spam! Guess I will start with changing my password. So if anybody recieves one from me, it is spam, at this time.

I just got one from Beerleg... Blank subject line. Wonder if this has anything to do with it.BBC news.
> I suspect Facebook is the security leak !
I am not on FB Richard and I got a spam email this morning.
