Since Easter weekend of 2022 we've had SEVEN leaks in our hot water lines.?ÿ The house is only 7 years old.?ÿ The pipe just splits or has pinholes in it.?ÿ 4 of the leaks are beneath the slab.?ÿ Evidently the manufacturer of the pipe made a bad batch of PEX and we must have gotten some of it.?ÿ?ÿ
We just paid several thousand dollars to have all the piping in our house replaced. . Now I get to pay a couple more to have all the holes in the sheetrock repaired.
Oh well, it's just money.?ÿ Yeah right.?ÿ ARRRGH!!!

I feel your pain. My house was constructed in 1974. My water source is my well and the piping in the house is all copper. Last year I started having water leak problems and it turns out that the well water is acidic and has been deteriorating the piping over the years to the point that it is very brittle.
Between plumbing repairs and the installation of a neutralizing system I spent around $5K last year. On top of that, my septic system is nearly 50 years old and has failed. I am waiting on the county health department to approve the design of my new system and will be paying between $20K and $25K for that to be constructed.

My current house was just getting some shape to it when we installed the plumbing (minimal) using plastic pipe. I pulled up along the house one day and saw something shiny in the very short lawn. It was water. Flowing water. A capped 1/2" pipe had blown the cap off, allowing a full stream to shoot out into the unfinished portion of the house. Seems like it was about 125,000 gallons of water that I had the pleasure of paying for. Fortunately, there was practically no actual damage to the house. The plumber's liability coverage took care of my expenses.

We have just replaced all the plumbing in our 100yr old house - the galvanised pipe was showing its age. The hotwater tank also.
I'll be p*ssed off (NZ term, the off is needed) if we have the same problem

Be glad you were home. We were in Cody, WY on a tour of the West and got a call from my daughter telling me the house was flooded due to a broken connection between the wall and the toilet tank. It was a cheap plastic “pipe” that split. It was flowing for three days before it was caught. I went home to manage the mess but the “best” part of all was flying home. It took 16 hours, and three airports to get from Cody to Orlando.
