The pleasant smell that accompanies the first rain after a dry spell.
It was a long hot June here and half of July too. Finally caught a break; it's good to be a surveyor in the Pacific Northwest.

Sigh...... No rain this side of the mountains.

It has been very difficult to be outside in the sun after 2pm for many days and the shade only cuts the sting of the sun. It is still over 100å¡F. Tuesday it was 107å¡F, matched the high so far, 3 days of that in the past week.
