What? No dead or homeless people to run over?
That was nice.
WHATSAMATTA???????
Doesn't that bike have a steering mechanism?
Car drivers are supposed to sit in traffic while bicyclists get a free pass?
RADU - Wrong Person To Ask
RADU,
Peter lives east of NYC on Long Island. However he does work in the "Eastern Burbs" of the "City". He rides where there are trees not buildings. You should have addressed the thread to the Sicilian Cowboy as seen in his reply.
I live 30 miles east of Peter in the western end of the Hampton's. It is now tourist season, as a local I still have a problem why we can't shoot them if they are in season.
Weather forecast for the weekend is not good so we have not left to spend the weekend on the boat. In the marina we are in a closed environment of people who want to fish and not people who only come here to party.
RADU:
The only time I have ridden my bike in The City was during the Five Borough Bike Tour. Then the roads were closed to vehicular traffic.
This rider is not using the bike lane but I would like to see a cop try and give him a ticket.

BTW, you are the second person to bring this video to my attention today.
Peter
Good gawd. I wonder how many participants they had to pick up, especially around those ramp areas...
My back hurts just watching that, and just the thought of my knuckles rubbing..er..grinding along some of those building walls...
😉
Is riding outside of bike lanes actually illegal in NYC?
In California bicycles are vehicles that can go just about anywhere except the freeway (or the interstate for mid-westerners).
The City of Roseville (northeast of Sacramento just over the Sacramento/Placer County line) has stupid bike lanes which are in between the right lane and the right-most right-turn or exit lane. The lines are dashed; no way would I ride in that lane, I would use the sidewalk although it is illegal.
The illegality of riding outside the bike lane is a bit murky. Here is a link to an interview with the author of the video:
Interview With a New York Bike-Lane Vigilante
Here is a video of the same guy riding his bike through the Holland Tunnel, something I would not advise and which is definitely illegal.
