Had I been alive in England in the 17th. century I too probably would have hopped a boat for this side of the pond.  If nothing else just to get away from the bad food.

At one point in the small puddle royals call their gene "pool", the King of England also inherited the throne of France (at least he thought so). Apparently, the bad food served by the English at the coronation in France was at least part of what doomed him to failure. (at least that is how I chose to hear the story)

That he had the title due to his father's pillaging of France probably had a bit to do with it as well...

And He only got that from his Norman Great Grandfather's pillaging of England and Wales

 

A millennia of in-breeding does give one an advantage
