Would there be any type of impedance issue if you added a quick connect plug inline, so you could remove the panels for storage? I have a potential application (hunting camp) where I would want to store the panels when not in use. (the meth heads will steal anything not locked in a sea land container with recessed padlock.)
was back home in Illinois last fall and could not believe how many 300 foot tall turbines there are throughout central Illinois. I think they found that the wind at that height was MUCH greater than at ground level. It's surreal to drive around corn fields with literally hundreds of those giants slowly spinning....
yes the wind is stronger and also comes from a different direction up higher.
Sometimes winds are ground based, however. In the summertime we get a breeze from the San Joaquin-Sacramento River Delta, AKA the Delta Breeze. It is about 2 or 300 feet thick. When flying in the pattern at the airport in the evening I noticed that the air aloft is very warm and still but as we descended to the runway the air temperature falls a lot at about 300' above ground.

Consider using Anderson Powerpole connectors for DC connections. You can get them in a wide variety of ratings and sizes. The contacts are silver plated and make positive contact with the opposite contact. Individually, they are genderless, but once set up in pairs using the black and red housings, you never have to worry about plugging them in the wrong way. They are available from a number of suppliers.

Do NOT use the roll pins which can fall out. They slide together very tightly by themselves but you can use Crazy Glue to make it permanent or silicone in the hole to make it not so permanent.

No. The connectors Tyler suggested would work fine. In my case, they only need to handle 14 amps at 12 volts (between the panels and the battery).
The connections between the battery and the inverter (in my case) must handle 120 amps.
