I normally root for the Kansas City Chiefs, no matter how bad they are. But, today I have been rooting for the opponent's quarterback. Tampa Bay's Josh Freeman is not only a K-State footballer, but, his grandmother lives less than four miles from me. I remember his mother well when she was a young girl. I'm certain Grandma Shirley has been jumping up and down and doing all sorts of spirited things today as he performed mighty well.

You get used to it after a while. A.D. Peterson played here at OU. Now he's at Minnesota. Not a good team to root for when you're Packer fans like us.

And "da Bearz" have a couple of Sooner lineman on their roster now.

It's all good.

Same here, I'm a die hard Cowboys fan.

But it is hard not to root for RGIII, a local boy from these parts.

yeah, you got to pull for your Homeys.
I always have done that.

KSU has a few freshman kids from a local HS.

RGIII has very string ties to New Orleans.
Both his father and mother were raised here.
His father was raised in the Desire Projects which is about the worst of the worst here. They were torn down before Katrina. As a HS drop out, he found his way out of poverty by enlisting and staryting a military career.
For his NFL debut against the Saints, he had a very large groupo of local relatives in attendance.
Sometimes I pull for North Jersey guys. I was happy to see ex-Rutgers coach and North Jerseyite Greg Shiano take over Tampa Bay.
Also Bill Parcells, even when he went to coach the Dallas Cowboyz. That was very hard. 🙂

FYI
Danny Weurfel , FL. Gator QB, Heismann winner,Saints QB and chistian minister left football to work with youth in the Desire Projects.

I am certain he was more successful with the ministry than with the pro football career- had to have been.

that's for sure but it seems that he had another calling besides calling signals.
y'know that "mysterious way" thing...
and that "way' led him into the Desire Projects" where RGI and RGII lived..
