I am looking for some suggestions on Hotels for New Orleans. Looking to stay in the French Quarter where it is safe to walk around. We typically like the boutique/historical places with lots of local flare. I have so far researched Hotel Monteleone, Soniat House and Royal Sonesta.
I would also be interested in historical places to visit and things to see...Probably visit around April. Also good food, voodoo and a swamp airboat tour will be in order..
I rented a condo on Royal street for years, so I can't speak for hotels. things to do and places to eat.

WWII museum, Aquarium if have kids, ride a street car, take a paddle wheel boat ride.

I live about 2 hours away and can serve some mighty fine crawfish. A friend can give an airboat tour.

Thanks for the information. I will get things booked soon. Mudbug boil sounds great!
early April is FQ Fest and late April is the first weekend of Jazz Fest.
If you plan on going during these times, you better get on the stick.
FQ Fest is getting bigger and bigger each year to out f town guests since it is free.
Because of work and a new school for our son, we did a "staycation" this past August in New Orleans, We had a great time. Music, eating and shopping plus other activities at City Park.

I can attest that Lamon is a GOOD cook, and a fine host.

Andy: Thanks for the complement. I just remembered my old condo is now on VRBO. Located on Royal in the quieter section. One bedroom/one bath with kitchen and pull out sofa.
For one night it will sleep 2 couples but it gets small after that. If interested let me know and i can forward the owners contact info.
No matter where you hang out near Bourbon Street remember to attempt to ignore the most beautiful and well-dressed women you see on the street. Those are the ones that were given first names at birth like Patrick, Steven, Charles and Marvin, not Patty, Stephanie, Charlene and Marvelous.
