and Emma just had to see this puppy running around this morning. She pulled over a stool, then pulled herself up on the counter to see.
Children and puppies
are like magnets and iron filings. They ARE going to get together.

Children and puppies
We had to put down our 13 year old dog almost a year ago. We'll get a puppy when our expected baby is a little older. Until then, Emma will have to get her puppy fix through other families.
Children and puppies
I always liked a sign I saw in a store: "All unattended children will be given an expresso bean and a puppy and sent home!"
Having a pet is a good thing with children around. I always had a dog or a cat (or bothe) and did the same with my kids. It's tough when the critter dies, but that too is a life lesson and I think it is something that children should learn.

Children and puppies
I'm still being trained by my 3 year old Lab mix that we got from the pound. It sure is nice to have her greet you at the door like her day is now complete since you're home. She's great with children, letting them hug her, pull on her ears and tail. She just rolls over and lets them know they're welcome to all the wet kisses they can handle. All children need a pet of some type.

Speaking of puppies, Paden Cash got a new puppy in this thread;

and as far as I know, never told us what he named her.
Surely he has thought of something by now!

Cute picture; reminds me of a Norman Rockwell painting.

Her name is..
Poppy. She's almost 4 months old now and suppose to be an Australian Shepherd..
I think she's 1/2 coyote and 1/2 tasmanian devil.;-)
Wow, impressive upper body strength, what are you feeding her?
Not to hijack, but last week we had a third crew member for most of a day on a topo, an approximately 10 month old female boxer puppy. Not only was she beautiful and energetic, but very smart as well. By the end of the day she knew not to get too close to the whole line cutting aspect of the job, but could do 'stay away from the tripod', sit, shake, and high five.
Boxers LOVE high fives.
At the end of the day she would not go home, chased the truck as we made our way out of the jobsite. We ended up loading her up in the truck, drove around to an adjacent subdivision and ran right into the search party of lovely female teens mobilized to find her. All's well that ends well, she got a day of exercise and male bonding, we got puppy love, and hey, she got to eat most of a dead squirrel.
The eye candy at the end of it all was simply breathtaking. God in His infinite wisdom knew what He was doing with the teen female form, and sometimes His angels are four legged and have squirrel breath.
Eye candy or Jail bait?
I went to a site yesterday for a field update and they had a shaggy sheppard in a pen. He was wary of me and I was not about to reach over, but he sniffed my hand through the mesh and liked listening to my "Are you a good dog?" questions.
Hijack away, I love dog stories.
They were all on break from University of South Alabama, so I'm really, really hoping they were all of legal age.
I'll be honest though, at my age they all look like somebody's daughter. It doesn't make them any less lovely.
