Hello everyone. I didn't really go missing, just been in lurk mode for the past two years. Nothing much to say, just been too busy to comment. Glad things are still rockin' here!
I left soggy Juneau for sunny Helena and don't regret it a bit. Miss my old job and companions there. Miss the ocean. Miss 7.5 hr days and more leave time than I could use.
Working for private industry again and doing my best to rebuild their land surveying line. So far I like the variety of work, working conditions even in winter, and all the roads. You can actually drive places here, weird...
Anyway, just wanted to say Hi!
In the coming weeks I will be posting for help from sub-consultants in a variety of states. We will begin a massive interstate utility corridor project soon. Very confidential at this point, so I'll keep you posted when I figure out staging.
Until then, keep your tripods steady and rods plumb.
Welcome to the lower 48...
We have 3 Professional Land Surveyors in our office, covering Idaho and every State that touches it. If you're interested in an SOQ just say the word. I'll be watching for any related postings...
Good Luck, Tom
Montana may as well be Alaska to a guy from CT! 😉
Welcome back to the board and the lower 48. Never been to Alaska, but I'm a big fan of Montana.
I got a big kick out of:
> You can actually drive places here, weird...
...because my wife briefly lived in Juneau about 10 years before we met and said she'd drive to the end of some road that just dead ends and sit there in the car looking straight ahead. Waiting for someone to come build the rest of it so she could drive away. She didn't like Juneau much. Bad time in her life.
By the by, I've got a friend from Oregon who owns a café in Helena called "Murry's". If you ever go there please tell Joanie "Hi" for me. She's a great kid and her 94 year old grandmother is one of my favorite people in the world. Joanie and her hubby have a new baby named after great grandma. Pretty cool.
