You've been a busy guy.  I could not begin to compile a list like that, except for the very great ones.  One of my favorites that I was describing to someone recently was Two Years Before the Mast.  Very memorable and thought provoking.

Didn't Franklin Dixon write The Hardy Boys series?

Franklin W. Dixon was a corporate pen name and many authors wrote the Hardy Boys books. Same with Carolyn Keene for Nancy Drew, and probably other series.

I have a copy of one of the brown cloth cover edition Hardy Boys books. Let's just say that its content would not be published in today's environment, and a lot of re-write has gone on through the various editions. For example the younger teen brother is carrying a pistol at one point and fires in the direction of what he things are bad guys without really seeing a target.
