I have never seen an eight. I recall that Eric says he has, but I haven't. Sevens are pretty rare in my experience, but sixes aren't all that unusual.
I got to thinking about it though and it seems that the only time you could see an eight, if there was one, would be if you clicked on it on your first move, or if it was the only space left at the end of the game. It's completely surrounded by mines so it could never be uncovered any other way, right?
Don
Tip of the hat to your category selection.
Never encountered an '8'. Made me think, though, you could do a custom matrix size with number of mines set to # of cells - 1.
Would make for a quick game and possibly waste a lot of minutes (rain days only, of course).
Be careful, Don- don't pull a muscle....:-O
Don, It only took me 12 hours to figger out what you are talking about.:-S
Do you listen to this in the background?
B-)
Incidently, we surveyed the property of the programmer that created Minesweeper.
He is still living off the proceeds of that game. Back when it was created, Microsoft didn't think it was going to last long, so they paid him a percent of every package of Windows sold that included minesweeper.
25 years later..... you still find minesweeper on your computer.
I love that game. I'm with you on the eight thing. Maybe it just blasts open. One way you could click on it is if you were @ the end of the game and there was a cluster of nine left, and the little window down in the lower right said that there were 8 mines left.
