I was thinking a tooled cover for a field book with the surveyor's name and license number would be cool.

Also a note pad cover that a person could take to meetings or trips to the courthouse with the company name on it.

Anybody else have any ideas?

Guitar pick guards are a good idea, as guitar players like to individualize their stuff.

If I was her, I would make one as a sample, and then make them on demand, as even within the standard telecaster alone, their are 3 different screw patterns depending on the production date and country of origin.

The traditional standard in cattle country is the Western style tooled belt. Frequently, the person's name is provided.

A variation on that would be to create belts with a short message, ala the standard "T" shirt. Something like, "Hey, stop looking at my butt!"

I've always thought I would like to have a leather pouch that was form fitted to a standard field book and could be worn on a belt. I know they exist, but I have never been able to find one. I get tired of carrying a field book in my pocket, especially in the summer heat.

I have 4 custom shealthes made for my axes. I own 4 Gransfors Bruik axes made in Sweden and throwing axe from college Woodsmen team. I am in need of a 5th sheath for the throwing axe. Can she make it?

Nice work!!

In general Surveyors are a Carnivorous lot with nary a Vegan or Vegetarian to be found.

Besides that, leather does a better job at many things than other substances.

I am hopeful:-)
I am sure there must be a least one "closet" vegan or vegetarian surveyor out there! I don't really qualify--as I am barely one tenth of a surveyor!
Whomever that is if you visit Kauai, you can have nice home cooked vegetarian lunch with me. 🙂 Let see if that brings 'em out 😀

Ysami,
I have only known of one. I worked with him in the Ozark Mts. Before he surveyed, I believe that he was part of a yoga or some type of meditation group that travelled before he settled down with a family and started surveying. He adopted the first name of Viraam. DSSM who

Surveyors are more attuned to the paleo diet by nature. 🙂
Or anything that can be washed down with beer or wine.

I would have use of a good belt, 32", plain, dark brown. I know it is a waste of talent with the plain, but that is how it goes.

Yswami, good luck finding the vege-vegan surveyor. The closest I come to that is an obnoxious sister in law who judges people for their carnivorous ways and their alcohol consumption and their willingness to have fun. Thank you in advance for not judging me.

My EX-wife went vegetarian once she was footloose and fancy free from me. That's as close as I can get. I don't believe she ever went out with me on a day of surveying so she doesn't really count.

Thanks for all the input and suggestions / requests?
I am going to print this thread out and give it to her and see where it goes from there.

I have offered to supply the leather. It's tough for her to do a bunch of leather work due to school/sports/animals, but I would like to at least show her there is an opportunity there for her is she chooses to follow it.

Nice work!!

Apparently there is a type of material called "vegan leather" that can be tooled.
I'm not familiar with how it is made.
