This appears to be a SIM-less GPS locator, that connects to global GSM cell nets. It's probably not a continuous tracker, more a spot locator, but the plus version does have a backup battery, and it's tiny, and it looks like the satellite antenna has a standard connector, so it could be patched.
Looks like it might fit in with the batteries on some TS??s. ?????ÿ

Yep, that's what I was thinking.
I put a similar unit on my motorcycle.
I have been surprised at the power draw - drains the bike battery in about two weeks.
The onboard backup battery lasts about three hours at best.

Is yours a continuous tracker which sends location via SIM at preset intervals?
I think this one only sends location when queried, hence perhaps the reason why it gets longer (30 day) life on the backup battery. I think what they have made is a system whereby if you lose the asset, you ping it to find where it is, rather than continuously track it. The original model had no backup battery and I think the idea with that is that it is active when the asset is powered up - so with say a car, it is wired into the accessories circuit, rather than constant power.

It can be.
But I have it set to only respond by txt to txt query.
But it seems to keep the gps and phone chip powered up constantly

Man, I sure don't want anyone with fingers that look like those of that guy working for Orchid anywhere near any of my instruments. Sheesh!
Reminds me of Marty Raney in "Homestead Rescue" that uses his chapped, rutted, calloused, bloody and obviously poorly maintained hands as his resume' to do the rescuing he does on a weekly basis.
I'd have to think twice about believing in a guy that hasn't figured out gloves. Or Lubriderm. Just saying.
I nominate Marty Raney for the lead role in the movie Wendell is going to produce about the fabulous career of TDD, "Water My A__!" Or was that Binge? Memory fades.

It's an advertising ploy, it suggests that the gizmo if stolen will lead to a thumping dished out from someone built like Francois Botha.
